Billanook Estate

The D’Aloisio family has been involved in the agricultural heritage of the Yarra Valley since the late 1960's, and in 1994 planted the first vines on their 36 hectare property, known as Yarraland.

Constantly striving to produce fruit of the highest quality for the Billanook Estate wines is reflected in the meticulous way the Yarraland Vineyard is managed. Family members oversee the process of the grapes to wine, from harvest to bottle.

Plantings initially included the red varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot and Pinot Noir along with the white varieties of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

2011 saw the introduction of Italian varietals, Barbera, Sangiovese and Nebbiolo as well as the Spanish varietal, Tempranillo.

The Billanook Estate vineyard is located in one of the prime positions in the Yarra Valley that takes in spectacular views.

Visit  Billanook Estate to savour their hand-crafted wines from their family vineyard, paired with traditional homemade Italian food - such as freshly made pastas, sauces & woodfired pizzas - from the Al Dente kitchen.

About the Winemaker

John D'Aloisio

John began his wine journey with cousin Domenic Bucci who was one of the first wine makers to establish a winery of a high standard that is now common in the Yarra Valley today. John made his first vintage back in 1991, a Shiraz that won a silver medal. His love of wine grew and so did his desire to make wines that were full flavoured and true to the cool climate of the Yarra Valley.
