Whispering Hills
Whispering Hills is a boutique winery in the Yarra Valley owned and operated by Murray, Marie Anne, Audrey and Darcy Lyons. Murray and Darcy are responsible for winemaking, Audrey takes care of the cellar door and distribution, and Marie Anne runs the wood-fired kitchen.
The vineyard was established in 1985, with further plantings made in 1996 and 2003. The site now comprises of Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines.
When you visit Whispering Hills, be sure to slow things down and enjoy the family's delicious home cooked food from their unique wood-fired kitchen with your loved ones.
Chef Marie Anne Lyons' passion for wood-fired cooking is infectious. As an ex-Masterchef contestant, you can expect Marie to serve up rustic, authentic Italian cooking with an edge that shows her skills in the kitchen. The wood-fired pizzas and sourdough breads served for lunch every Saturday and Sunday are handcrafted from scratch, all cooked on the hearth of Marie's design. It was built by son Nick Scott in October 2014.
Natural leaven is used to make their renowned bread, with flavour and texture from the purest ingredients. Each loaf has a culture of organic flour, water, leaven and sea salt, and the fermentation process can be anywhere from 18 up to 36 hours from start to finish.

Murray Lyons
Murray has over thirty years experience in wine and viticulture in the Yarra Valley , Heathcote and Mornington Peninsula.
Murray’s winemaking journey began in the Mornington Peninsula and Bendigo, where the famous Cambrian soil arguably produces some of the best Shiraz's in Australia. As a result of this pedigree, Whispering Hills also produces a beautiful Shiraz with fruit sourced from Bendigo. Yields are tightly controlled to enhance quality and the wines are only released in small quantities.
